Concepts in Classical Narratology
Course category1 ère Année
Concepts in Classical Narratology is an elective subject that builds on previously acquired theoretical knowledge about modern approaches to literary criticism (especially Russian Formalism and Structuralism). It aims to help graduate students develop the ability to apply key concepts in classical narratology to narrative texts and optimise their uses of the analytical methods of studied theorists. Learners will be encouraged to see classical narratologies as efficient toolkits of analysis and as new ways to bring their understanding of literary texts to higher levels of disciplined complexity.
